Introducing theSkimm's New Ballot Request Site (developed by US Vote!)
Those of you who log on to U.S. Vote Foundation (US Vote) and Overseas Vote for help in getting your ballot or contacting your local election official may be surprised to know that we have another important mission: helping other organizations, companies, and even states provide the same services to their members, customers, employees, and constituents. We do this by licensing the data and services that power this very website. This allows us to provide hosted systems and widgets to create a customized website experience that provides US Vote’s voting services directly to the licensee’s website, while mimicking the website’s look and feel.
We're very excited to announce our partnership with theSkimm to provide licensing data and services that make it easier to request your absentee ballot, navigate your state-by-state voting options, and get in touch with your local election official." Even if you don’t need to register to vote or request your ballot, theSkimm—a membership company that makes it easier for millions of millennial women to live smarter—is worth checking out. Its suite of products give you the context behind the headlines to help you stay informed in our complex and ever-changing world. In addition to covering the election (our favorite), COVID-19, and tech (another favorite: after all we are a civic tech .org), theSkimm covers world news, pop culture, wellness, and money. They pretty much cover everything important.
In 2018, we partnered with theSkimm as part of their get-out-the-vote efforts to mobilize more than 200K people to the polls. This year, we are thrilled to go beyond that and power one of the featured voting tools on their site to help their members request absentee ballots. Working with theSkimm was also an opportunity to introduce our new election data services that we developed to offer our licensees, according to Susan Dzieduszycka-Suinat, CEO of U.S. Vote.
“Working with theSkimm was incredible, they are very professional. The quality and refinement of language, style, and design was impressive,” Susan added.
US Vote is particularly proud to be working with theSkimm because of the millions of millennial women they reach each day. And according to a survey theSkimm produced last fall, they want to have their voices heard this November. Most of them, that is. While the survey results show a healthy 65 percent planning to vote, a solid third of the respondents weren’t sure. In partnership with theSkimm, we’re working to change that—to ensure everyone has the tools they need to vote, no matter how, where, or when they do it.
theSkimm’s 2020 campaign is dedicated to informing voters, would-be voters, and hesitant voters on the issues. And in one of the most complicated elections in our history, we’re thrilled to help provide the resources these voters need to request their vote-by-mail absentee ballots.
Here’s to another successful partnership and a great, safe, and secure election.
