U.S. Vote Foundation (US Vote), together with our Overseas Vote and US.VOTE initiatives, is dedicated to bringing best-in-class voter services to millions of American voters. We develop and provide online tools to assist US citizens living anywhere in the world to register to vote and request their absentee ballot using their state’s specific voter forms. This includes US citizens living within the US, living abroad or serving in the military. The comprehensive range of services offered by US Vote helps voters navigate today's complicated landscape of US voting regulations.
Integral to achieving our mission is making it easier for all Americans to register to vote and stay active in the electoral process. We have done this by standardizing user-friendly registration and ballot request processes across all states in conjunction with the provision of key content and help desk services. Our wizard applications guide voters through their state specific requirements, bringing participation to the desktops and devices of millions of voters.
US Vote's exclusive Voter Account application supports voters' ongoing participation in the electoral process. A Voter Account is a voter's personal democracy dashboard where they keep their voter information for easy access. This assists voters to meet voter registration and ballot request application refiling, while supporting them to maintain contact with their election officials. Ongoing participation as part of each individual American's engagement in their democracy is vital to a vibrant social and political system and a driving factor in the work of the foundation.
US Vote's service produces the complete state-specific absentee ballot request forms. Voters using their state forms will provide more complete information to their election office. Overseas citizen voters and military voters can use US Vote's services to complete their official federal voter registration and absentee ballot request application.
Where other services provide only state office addresses, US Vote integrates with our Election Official Directory (EOD) database to provide voters with complete contact details and mailing addresses for their local election office where they will be able to send their forms and access the best direct service. Our EOD is the most comprehensive listing of election offices available.
US Vote is poised to respond to the growing need for alternatives to polling place voting. Many voters need easier access to absentee voting, including students, travellers, elderly persons, overseas citizens, uniformed service members and their families, disabled and homebound people, those who work long hours or double shifts, people who travel for work, and parents without childcare.
U.S. Census data suggest that 48% of nonvoters did not vote for reasons that could have been solved by absentee voting. US Vote gives these voters the ability to generate accurate and complete state-specific voter registration and state-specific absentee ballot request applications across all states with instructions and local election office addresses, in addition to providing comprehensive voter information tools.
Core foundation activities include:
- Develop information tools and services that simplify the voter registration and absentee ballot request process
- Content development and management of state and local election data
- License customized voter services applications and election data to states and voting organizations through API and hosted services
- Provide support to voters through an ongoing communications program and personalized voter help desk
