Tips For Texas Voters: March 1, 2022 Primary Election

The Texas state primary election is right around the corner on Tuesday, March 1st!

Primaries are vitally important. Typically, less than 25% percent of eligible Texas voters typically participate in their primaries. Be the exception - is your opportunity! Choosing a good candidate is a crucial factor in determining who ultimately will win in the November General Election. And with fewer people voting in primaries, your vote will have even more impact.

Here are 3 easy ways to have your vote counted:

  1. Return Your Absentee Ballot. If you requested an absentee ballot (request deadline passed on Feb 18, 2022) make sure to complete it and return it by mail postmarked by Tue, March 1.

You must include one of the following identifiers when submitting your ballot:

  • Your Texas ID Number
  • Last 4 Digits of your Social Security Number
  • Your Texas Driver's License Number

If you didn’t request an absentee ballot, don’t worry, there are other convenient ways to vote!

  1. Vote Early. You can vote prior to election day, in-person, starting Mon, Feb 14 through Fri, Feb 25 and can find your polling place here. No pre-registration is necessary.

You will need to provide one of the following forms of ID to cast your ballot:

  • Texas Election Identification Certificate
  • Valid Texas Voter ID Card with Photo
  • Citizenship Certificate with photo
  • Valid Military ID
  • Valid Texas Driver's License
  • License to Carry Concealed Weapon or Firearm
  • Valid US Passport
  • Texas Personal ID

This is a great option for anyone with a busy schedule or a known conflict on Election Day. Cast your vote early and feel good that you’ve exercised your civic duty!

  1. Vote in Person. You can vote in person at your local polling place on Election Day – Tuesday, March 1st. Polling places are open from 7:00 am CT-7:00 pm CT.

You will need one of the following forms of ID to cast your ballot:

  • Texas Election Identification Certificate
  • Valid Texas Voter ID Card with Photo
  • Citizenship Certificate with photo
  • Valid Military ID
  • Valid Texas Driver's License
  • License to Carry Concealed Weapon or Firearm
  • Valid US Passport
  • Texas Personal ID
